County Design guide and Logo

The County logo has been redrawn and revisited. Guidelines and downloads are now available.

Logo with nameThe Hampshire Scouting logo has been around for many years, and has served its purpose well. Unfortunately, the orginal versions were lost long ago, and over the years, numerous variants have emerged causing inconsistency. The lack of effective electronic versions has meant that it is infrequently seen in County publications.

LogoSo, the logo has been redrawn, and these variants take effect from May 2004. It is based on the same underlying design - retaining our history - but presents a more modern, fresh and active symbol of the County.

The Design Guide

First and foremost is the new County design guide. This document gives important guidance regarding the usage of the logo. Please ensure that you are familiar with this before using the logo.

Logo downloads

We have supplied the logo in a selection of file formats to try and ensure that it is accessible to everybody. If none of these are adequate for you, please contact the Webmaster, and we'll see if we can help.

Each of these sets contains the logo in its different forms.

Where possible, please use either the WMF or EPS versions in documents that are to be printed, as these will give the best printed results.

Questions:

  1. Why does the logo looks a bit 'jagged' on screen? This is due to how some applications draw graphics. When they draw curves, they have to compromise between smoothness and drawing time. If your application has an option for "anti-aliasing" or "smoothing" ensure that this is turned on. In Adobe Acrobat reader, this can be found in Edit -> Preferences -> Smoothing. Ensure that "Smooth line art" is ticked.
  2. I don't have the logo with name and URL pictures?
These were not in the original sets of images, but have been available since 4 July 2004. Please download the files again.
