The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has been through a number of changes over the last six months including: a rebranding, new section names and requirements, a new online D of E “record book” called EDofE, a new assessor scheme for expeditions and lots of exciting opportunities. The Queen’s Scout Award also has new resources available to support section leaders and commissioners. Therefore, we are arranging a number of workshops in September for Explorer Leaders and Network members to update you on the changes and provide a forum to discuss the D of E within Scouting. These meetings will also cover the requirements of the Queen’s Scout Award. I would encourage every District to send a representative to one of the meetings – the meetings are open to all DESCs, ESLs , District Advisers and anyone else interested in the award. These will be held as follows: - Thursday 9th September – South East (Denmead) 1930 - 2100
- Monday 20th September – North (Farnborough) 1930 – 2100
- Wednesday 29th September – Central / South West (Winchester) 1930 – 2100
If you would like to do the Intro to D of E course you can attend two evenings: - Wednesday 15th and Wednesday 29th September at Winchester (1845 – 2130).
This is usually a day course. To book simply email your name and contact phone number to dofe@scouts-hants.org.uk. Joining instructions will be sent by the 1st September at the latest. I look forward to seeing you at one of the meetings! Mike Baxter ACC (D of E and QSA) dofe@scouts-hants.org.uk qsa@scouts-hants.org.uk
