Southampton City Beavers walked around Southampton Common and enjoyed games after their walk.
Southampton City Beavers walk and have fun for CLIC Sargent

On a warm Saturday morning, forty five Beaver Scouts plus Leaders and Parent Helpers, gathered to walk around Southampton Common for 'Clic Sargent'( Caring for Children with Cancer) which is the chosen charity for the Southampton City District for 2010.

At the starting line, Debbie Neary a Manageress from the Shirley CLIC Sargent Charity Shop came along to wish us well for the walk. Banners waving, buckets and collecting boxes rattling all the way round, you could hear the Beavers coming before you could see them! They turned quite a lot of heads as they walked round singing at the top of their voices ' Who we are, Where do we come from'. It certainly left ringing in my ears.

Debbie Neary, met the singing Beavers as they crossed the finish line, it had taken them 1hr 15 minutes to walk round the route which was planned a few days earlier. After a group photograph and a well earned picnic lunch, everyone joined in the 'KICK for CLIC' football goal scoring game, which is all part of the fundraising day. Buckets and collecting boxes were still rattling as a couple of the Leaders took the Beavers on a 'loo run'. A total of £ 48.80, and a couple of big bugs was given to us by the public. Parents collected their hot and tired children, leaving the hot and tired adults to crawl back home, after a great day.

Well Done everyone who took part and a BIG Thank You to Debbie Neary for coming along to support us, also a BIG Thank You to the Leaders who had planned the route and the Fundraising Day.

Every Beaver, who took part, gained their Hikes 1 Badge.
